Parental allowance is the amount paid to you who is taking care of your children. The compensation amount is calculated approx. 80% from the monthly income if you are working and if other specific conditions are met. The compensation to be paid for the days you planned to take care of your child, which can be max 7 days per week. Parental benefit is divided into higher benefit level and lower level. For higher benefit days level, the compensation will be calculated based on 80% from the monthly income before the child is born for a period not less than 240 days. If the annual income exceeds 82400 kr, the compensation will be 1006 kr per day before tax. In case you worked for less than 240 days before the child is born, the compensation will be paid based on the basic benefit level for the first 180 days equal to 180 kr per day before tax. Whereas the compensation for the balance days will be based on the higher benefit level equal to 80% from the income. For the lower benefit level, the compensation will be 180 kr per day before tax. The number of compensation days will defer for those who have twins as per the following schedule The total number of parental allowance days will be divided equally between the parents, however each one has the right to transfer his or her days to the other partner conditionally to preserve at least 90 days. The compensation will be calculated based on the income for each partner separately.
